Cleaner Vehicles Help Make Smarter Cities

As cities get smarter, they use energy more efficiently and in a more controllable fashion, and they are better able to incorporate intermittent clean energy sources. Cities, and the power grids that support them, can use traditional power generation and stationary energy storage to support intermittent resources like wind and solar, but the lowest-cost solution for over a decade has been to control power loads with demand response. A large and emerging new power load is electrified vehicles, and they will play a critical role in the future of smart cities and clean energy.

XL Hybrids Puts Electric Drive on Ford F-250 Pickup Truck

XL Hybrids unveiled a hybrid conversion of the Ford F-250 pickup truck at the 2018 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis Tuesday.   In addition to the gas-electric F-250 XLH, the company also showed off the Ford F-150 XLP, a plug-in hybrid truck. Adding a hybrid component to the powertrain can improve fuel economy by up to 25 percent while the plug-in hybrid can boost efficiency by up to 50 percent, Clay Siegert, XL’s chief operating officer, told

XL Hybrids Announces Rebranding, Hiring Surge to Meet Vehicle Electrification ‘Megatrend’
