XL Wins S&P Global Platts Global Energy Award for Commercial Technology of the Year
BOSTON, December 7, 2018 - XL, the leader in connected vehicle electrification solutions for commercial and municipal fleets, announced it has won the 2018 Commercial Technology of the Year award from the S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards. The 2018 winners were recognized by event host S&P Global Platts, the leading global provider of energy and commodities information and spot market benchmarks, at a New York City gala on December 6.
The Commercial Technology of the Year award recognizes companies for practically applying new technology in the pursuit of efficiency, business advantage and profit. Companies must have a commercially applied innovation that demonstrates the significance of their technology in relation to emissions reduction, practicality, reliability and overall commercial success.
“This award reflects our efforts to solve big environmental challenges with innovative and sustainable electrification solutions for the commercial fleet market,” said Tod Hynes, XL’s CEO and founder. “We are helping some of North America’s most recognizable fleets to significantly lower costs and reduce emissions without changing their operations, and their success defines our own in this award.”
The Platts award was XL’s fourth significant recognition so far this year. Last month, the company was recognized by the Northeast Clean Energy Council as Emerging Company of the Year. XL was also named one of Boston Business Journal’s Best Places to Work, and was among the finalists for the New England Venture Capital Association’s NEVY award for Clean Tech & Energy Company of the Year.
In addition, XL surpassed a milestone of 75 million customer road miles driven earlier this year, saving fleets over 1.5 million gallons of fuel and eliminating over 13,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions. Over the past year, the company has also introduced new products to their portfolio, including the industry’s first hybrid electric Ford F-250 and plug-in hybrid electric Ford F-150 pickup trucks.
